Mike Howard is an accomplished leader in the energy industry, with more than 25 years of experience developing and managing midstream companies. A natural problem solver, Mike’s innovative thinking has been instrumental to his success in creating efficient systems and providing customers with a total-solutions approach to their midstream needs. Along with outside-the-box thinking, Mike has a proven track record of recruiting teams of exceptional professionals and fostering a positive and productive work environment.

Most recently prior to founding HEP in 2011, Mike served as President of Midstream for Energy Transfer Partners (NYSE: ETP and ETE) where his responsibilities encompassed all aspects of the midstream, transportation and storage segments including business development, engineering, operations, contract administration, and compliance for both the regulated and non-regulated businesses. At the time of his departure, Energy Transfer was one of the largest Master Limited Partnerships in the nation, operating more than 17,500 miles of intrastate and interstate pipelines, more than 700 MMCFD of cryogenic processing plants, 77 BCF of storage and more than 1.2 million horsepower of compression.

Prior to joining Energy Transfer in June 2005, Mike spent two years with Crosstex Energy, L.P. (Nasdaq: XTEX and XTXI) as Vice President of Engineering and Operations. From 1993 to 2003, Mike held various positions with Union Pacific Resources and its successor, DCP Midstream, ultimately as Asset Manager for South Texas Operations.

Mike received his Bachelor of Science in chemical engineering from Texas A&M University, Kingsville. He is involved with various community and charitable organizations and enjoys hunting, golfing and spending time with his wife and three children.
